How do I get started with the Learning Gates spelling program?

Getting Started with the Learning Gates Spelling Program

1.      Log into our website www.movingbeyondthepage.com

2.     Enter the Learning Gates section of our website under the Online heading.

3.      Click on the add a new student bar under the profile icon.

 

4.      Fill in the appropriate details and click "Finished".

5.     Activate the appropriate course for your student. 

    

6.     This is the home screen for your student.  You can see where they can start a quiz and also some important hyperlinks below the blue progress bar.  The far-right marked “scores” is where you will see how your student did on the quizzes and what needs to be reviewed before the next test.  The far-left marked “instructions” will contain a video explaining how to use the Learning Gates system.  Also, note the “Available Course list” at the bottom where you can add more courses or different levels.  There is also a practice list created which contains the words your child needs to be practicing between the quizzes.

                                                        

7.     From there, go into the Practice list.  You can see that there are  words to review.  In this section, you will see what words were misspelled, how they were misspelled, links to spelling rules that should be reviewed, and a suggested schedule for practice.  

8.     Parents (the email the account is under) will receive an email with the words missed and a link to the practice list after the student completes each quiz.  Please note that if your child scores at 80% or below on the first spelling quiz, you will want to try a lower age level of spelling first.
